If you're looking for a community staple this is it! The portions are generous and the food is filling. They do not take orders over the phone but do have Uber eats. When waiting they have a lobby area that has chairs to wait until your order is ready. Pretty calm vibe while you wait for your number to be called.

For over 40 years, the Chinese kitchen has been stable in New Orleans, especially for my people from Gert town, Pigeon town, Xavier and Tulane University, the Parkway, and all the uptown people. The Chinese kitchen is a great value, with huge portions and outstanding taste. I do not make any comments about the service as I always have done takeout, and that takes as long as leaving church on an Easter Sunday with your grandma; it's an enjoyable experience, but you hate to wait that long. I've always stood in line in the days before COVID-19. Now, when I visit, I call ahead for my order, and I usually eat at the hotel or Airbnb, so I don't sit in the restaurant, although if you want to order faster, you probably can't sit in the restaurant.

Food was fresh and delicious. Walked in and there was no wait. Didn't take long at all before I had my order. 15 minutes tops.

The service and ambiance is like going through a drive-thru they take your order and you get a number on your ticket and wait for your order in another area. Not the best looking facility because it's a old restaurant. They are usually pretty quick but if you have to wait it's definitely worth the wait. My food is always fresh and seasoned well.

I feel like Chinese Kitchen has the East Bank on lock and China Doll has the west bank on lock. Prior to 2020, it was years since I visited this restaurant. During Covid I came, waited in line and ordered my usual (sweet and sour chicken) but it just didn't do it for me. I decided to give them another try and it was better this time around but still not how it used to be. My only complaint is that the chicken lacked seasoned. Once you add the sweet and sour sauce, it taste great but if you're eating it without the sauce, it doesn't have any seasoning. Other then that, everything was good. The rice was delicious, loved the sweet and sour sauce, and the egg roll was good. FYI : cash only and there will be a line but the line moves quick.
